Welcome to Travelling Guide - Travel Agency

The explorer Marco polo of the 12 century wrote that Sri Lanka is the finest island in the whole world. But no, I wasn’t going there because of only this reason. My reason was mainly cricket. Yes, I am a huge cricket fan. And this year the world cup was being held in the beautiful Sri Lanka. As soon as I heard the news, I knew that I just had to go. I could watch the cricket matches live and with an added benefit, I could explore the island too. This was going to be a perfect holiday.

Since I had a low budget, I was going to visit only one city. And the choice was obvious. Colombo is the largest city and the commercial, industrial and cultural capital of Sri Lanka. Naturally, all the big games of the world cup were going to be held in the capital city. All I needed was to find a good deal on the ticket. And Voila, I did. I got a Business Class Tickets at the best possible price.

My Flight was of about four hours. The whole time was thankfully spent comfortably. To be honest, I slept the whole time since I couldn’t sleep the night before due to excitement. Fresh breeze and a mild temperature greeted me at the Colombo airport. I had booked a room in Cinnamon Grand Colombo hotel. A cab took me directly to the hotel where I relaxed so that I could be ready for the next day. My trip was of 8 days. Since it was a short trip, I had planned to make the most of it. The hotel turned out to be great. To my greatest relief, the room was clean. And the staff was very courteous and helpful too. The next day I had an amazing time at the R. Premadasa stadium. It was quite a good experience and the best part was that the team I was supporting won. I managed to watch two games in my short stay while the rest of the time was spent exploring the Colombo city.

Colombo is a busy and vibrant place with a mixture of modern life and colonial buildings and ruins. It took me just 8 days to fall in love with it. The Sri Lankans are really friendly people. I visited all the famous landmarks of Colombo. I visited the Galle Face Green which is a strip of land between the Galle road and the Indian Ocean. Being a foodie, I loved the fact that there were many food vendors there. The Viharamahadevi Park is also a great place. It is the oldest and the largest park of Colombo. This park was built during the British rule of Sri Lanka. Next to park is the national museum where I enjoyed learning about the ancient Sri Lanka. From the beaches, museums, parks and cricket matches to all the shopping malls and restaurants, my trip to Sri Lanka was absolutely fantastic. Can’t wait to visit the place again someday!
